Today is the release of mataroa v1.5!
Among other smaller changes, the most significant one is that mataroa now renders newsletter emails in HTML! This is a feature that has been requested since the beginning of this project.
One can read my initial thought process in this GitHub issue1. I changed my mind because more and more (non-technical) people use mataroa and by extension more and more (non-technical) people read the mataroa newsletters.
People care much more about ease of use and comfortable defaults than anything else (as we all know). In particular, the two main pain points of plain text email are links and images, of which the abnormalcy of plain text email looks much more like a bug than a feature.
The change is deployed, so, tomorrow's newsletter cronjob will the first one with the HTML formatting! Let's see how this goes.
